Still Alive (But In Heaven)

Laptop still isn't fixed, of course. I really need it so I can do my pre-work before I go up to Virginia at the end of June for my class. Also, I need it for my social life, since heaven forbid I actually have one with real people!

Also, I re-arranged my bedroom. It looks more mature than before, just by moving my bed, nightstand, & a bookcase. However, now that my bed is no longer directly against the wall I feel like I'm going to fall off.

I've also had two almost-anxiety attacks this week. Hopefully that stops soon.

Also, I was raptured. Peace out!

A Piece Of Lent

So, to those of you not versed in the Christian tradition, we are now at the beginning of Lent. What is Lent, you may ask? Well...that's a good question.

Having grown up the son of a Methodist minister, I always remembered hearing it mentioned but because I was so young I never participated in any of the "festivities." Those festivities being the sacrificing of crap for Adult Jesus.

Once my parents & I started attending more...charismatic churches (not Pentecostal Holiness. No one pretended to be an animal & not everyone prayed in tongues) it wasn't mentioned as much. Then I went to Toccoa & it was mentioned a lot more (but I didn't sacrifice anything because screw that).

Then last year when I was in college, it seemed like everyone & their mother (not my mother though) gave up something for the 40 days leading to Easter. Not me, though! But that is a thing of the past.

This year, I have decided to "celebrate" Lent. So for the next 40 days, I am giving up cussing.

Yes, that's right.

Katie is giving up chocolate (& possibly white bread). Most people give up food items, electronic stuff, & that kind of junk. But not me! I'm taming my tongue (that's what she said).

The reason for this is primarily because I cuss way too much. I think it makes me sound uneducated & ignorant. That isn't to say that I'm against cussing. Far from it! I think it's hilarious when people cuss. But this is just something I myself need to rein in. This has been something I've been meaning to do for a while now, so by piggy-backing it with this hot mess, it might make it easier since everyone will be miserable at the same time.

A guy from my small group (sort of?) is joining me in this endeavor. I had a successful first day, but he did not. Go me! I told him that we are allowed to cuss if they're song lyrics. We are also allowed to cuss in another language because English is the official language of God & the only one He respects.

Why do I have a bad feeling this won't last long at all?

Edit: So, I was having my friend David read this as soon as I posted it. He noticed a typo. Guess what I did? Well, let's have the screen capture tell the story...

...................it's going to be a long Lent, folks.

The Fork Is Stabbing Deeper

Talked to Dixie, my classmate/friend who works in the main office at my job. Apparently there was a staff meeting today for general reasons & my supervisor felt the need to bring up the hospital incident.

I'm being turned into a scapegoat for not following a procedure that doesn't exist. Some of the people were arguing that I should have called one of the nurses, which is not a procedure at all. The nurses are only used for detox clients & to prescribe psychiatric medication. That's it. When I've tried to talk to the detox nurse before about general medication, I've been told that isn't her responsibility.

And guess what! My supervisor, who never once mentioned the fake nurse procedure last night, said in the meeting that she thought that I should have done that.

So then it turned into a Dixie vs. Almost Everyone Else showdown about whether this procedure exists or not. Dixie would know, too, since she worked as a Counselor Assistant for about a year there before being promoted to Case Manager.

Well, I Guess God Wants Me Homeless...

The guy prayed about it. Apparently God said no to me living with him. Apparently God wants me homeless...

In all actuality, the mister said that his sister was coming to stay with him for a month & it was just a bad time. I'm not bitter. I understand.

It's looking like I'm going to be moving into a dorm for the summer while I continue my search. The best part about that is they want to move me into one where there aren't kitchens attached to the units, despite the fact that there are still some of those available. And the cafeteria is apparently closed so I don't know how they expect me to eat.

Jesus H. Christ on a porch swing...

Tomorrow is another day. I don't work or have class so I'm going to spend it getting this shit sorted out, packing (to move God knows where), & cleaning the current dump I live in (barely. Just enough so I don't get fined).

You know that feeling right when you're about to have a complete nervous breakdown? Yeah. Almost had one today while in my counseling session. My counselor looked quite worried for me. I would look worried for me, too. I've looked like warmed-over shit for the past week. That's the real travesty here.
