The Craziest Man

A few weeks ago I ventured out of my depression to help Salem out with buying a van that he could then turn around & sell to make some cash. He had found this pedo-van on Craigslist (we all know how great my track record is with that website) & we made our way out near Fuquay-Varina to look at it. Salem said that the guy was really nice, & that he was even going to inquire about a job (the man owned his own refrigeration company).

Once we got there I was immediately put off because the man was wearing camouflage Crocs.
Like these.
He was incredibly manic, talking nonstop about anything & everything. He rambled on & on about how he beat up people in his family that were stupid with drugs. Did you know that he once hung his nephew upside down in a tree & shot at him? Well, he did. He also talked about almost every individual in his family & about how terrible they all are. Except his mother.

Then he turned the topic to the current state of welfare. Shit. I knew where this was going. He began to refer to black people as monkeys who were abusing the system. The whole time this was going on I just stared at the ground because really, what else could I do? He further proved his idiocy by referring to Michelle Obama as a "direct descendant of Tarzan's wife." This really bothered me, not just because it was offensive, but because it is freaking idiotic. Everyone knows that Tarzan's wife was Jane, who was British. White. That was literally the first thing I thought when he made that statement.

Salem ended up buying the van so we went inside for him to sign the paperwork. It was in his kitchen that I found some of the ingredients to make moonshine. Nope! We got out of there as fast as possible, with me driving Salem's car so he could drive the van.

Then Salem proceeded to get us lost for about an hour or so. And THAT'S what I get for leaving my bedroom.

Seriously

Ok. So this past weekend we moved my dad back from Toccoa, which is good. I made some monies at Applebee's, saw Alexis & her adorable baby, &...yeah that's about it.

We got a really late start on Thursday because Brad & his probably-retarded, definitely redneck brother were supposed to go with us & help & we needed to wait until he got off work. Too bad he didn't go so we wasted a whole day. He didn't go because Sling Blade wouldn't get in the car & pulled a knife on him. So we left without them, with the plan of Brad coming later.

Then we heard nothing from him. In fact, we heard nothing from him until Sunday, I believe. So we (primarily my dad because I'm worthless & my mother has arthritis) loaded the U-Haul on Sunday. I had to drive back Sunday night because they took my bed apart & I had nowhere to sleep. I got Salem to come to Rocky Mount to help unload (thank goodness) & since then, it's just been...stuff. Everywhere. As bad as before. Maybe worse in some rooms.

And it's like I'm the only one who is willing to do anything about it. I'm trying to throw stuff away, move stuff, just...get it out of here. And my mom keeps coming up with excuses why she can't do certain things, why she's saving stuff, blah blah blah. I know it's probably overwhelming but this is beyond ridiculous. I'm going to post pictures soon.

And my dad is doing nothing but making tea & backing her up, which would be nice if it was something that needed back-up. Instead it just seems spineless & is enabling this hot mess more than anything.

And guess what! I bet you'll never guess. They didn't do a damn thing about Brad. If he wants to come over, that's fine. They're still going to go out to eat. The only thing that's different is that they won't be helping him financially (which thank God). I told them I don't want him over if I'm here, they told me this wasn't my business, I told them it was because it still affected me & he sucks, & it just kept escalating so my dad starting talking about a paper that fell off the fridge & I walked out.

I know this isn't my fight, but I don't want him around me. I don't want them dealing with him because he is just a mooch. He owes them so much money, has ruined our furniture & our carpet (I was cleaning out the guest room by myself & had to stop because the cat piss from when he was staying here (for 7 months) & had his cat locked in there was burning my throat), constantly lets them down by bailing on promises, & yet...they're still there!

Dear God, I have to find a place & get out of here.

It Was My Birthday!

So apparently Thursday was my birthday. It was actually a pretty good day, to be honest. I hung out with Salem for most of it in Raleigh, then came back home to Rocky Mount to go out to eat with my mom (my dad was still in Toccoa). Then Salem & I went back to Raleigh to go drink (we ended up playing pool with his younger brother).

I had numerous Facebook comments, so obviously I'm loved. Granted, only 2 people called me (Alexis & Robyn). Not even my dad called (he texted me before I woke up). But it's ok. I had an awesome dinner, actually spent it with someone who wasn't trying to get me stupid-drunk, & wasn't bogged down in presents (I didn't even really ask for anything).

The only negative I can think of aside from the fact that people tended to forget it was my birthday (which is fine because I actually thought I had an extra week until a few days prior) is that I'm now almost halfway to 50.

And my new driver's license has finally arrived so hopefully now I won't be accused of having a fake.

Interesting

According to Dixie, who talked to the supervisor who let me go, I was fired because my wonderful partner told them that I never did room checks over night & was afraid of the clients.

That's awesome. Of course I never got a chance to defend myself or talk badly about her because I was too busy doing her job while she slept every single fucking night. Or I was getting fired because I was thrown under the bus for absolutely no reason.

Here is the truth: I did do room checks. Almost every night. Some nights I was more tired than others & did sleep, but I never slept as much as she did. In fact, some nights I checked all of the clients when my only real responsibility were the guys. And no, I was not afraid of the clients. I would have my lovely partner wake them up if we had to check a blood pressure because I hate waking people up & also because sometimes people hit when they are woken up.

That's it. So that's nice to know.

On a more positive note, I had a nice time visiting people at church today (shout out to Rebecca & Rachel. Holla!). And tomorrow I'm probably going to Raleigh to visit Salem who is with his family while on a break from Toccoa.

The Dirty Toke

I'm currently on my "spring break" in Toccoa (The Dirty Toke/Toke-Town). I'm currently sitting on my dad's couch, watching HGTV, & talking to my mother who decided to come down for a visit this weekend. In 2 hours I will be back at Applebee's, where I stupidly offered to work before I knew that tonight is prom night. I've managed to avoid serving prom the past 2 years & OF COURSE now that I don't work there regularly this ends up happening. And they changed the uniforms without telling me so I had to get a new shirt.

Last night I went with Salem (Hi Salem! If you're reading...) to South Carolina to buy beer because Georgia sucks. The greeter at Wal-Mart, as we were walking inside, told us to come again & have a good night. She then caught her mistake & corrected herself, but by that point I was barely containing the laughter. Then the cashier wouldn't take my I.D. because the top part is broken. So I had to give my debit card to Salem who now knows my PIN number.

Oooh! My mother is getting ready to teach me how to iron! Because yes, I'm almost 24 & don't know how to iron.

Also? This was such a boring post. I'm sorry.
